Full Moon Fever

This morning, around 5:15am, I walked out into the back yard with the dogs and it was so bright out, that I thought my next-door neighbor had installed a new light on his garage.  It wasn't that at all, it was the moon!  As bright as I think I have ever seen it!  Unfortunately these pictures don't really do it justice, but sunrise did not occur until almost 40 minutes later at 5:55am.

Monday Morning Sunrise

While the rest of the world was fighting the traffic trying to get onto Naval Station Norfolk; we were enjoying the spectacular "double" sunrise on the beach in Pine Island, NC!  [double-click to enlarge a picture]

Sunset in Corolla, NC

Sunday evening we moved a few miles up the sound and caught this view of the sunset from the "fairways" of the mini-golf course in Corolla, North Carolina.  A little cloudy, but spectacular none the less!

Carolina Sunset

The sunset over Currituck Sound on Saturday night.  These pics were taken from the deck & parking lot of the Sunset Grill in Duck.  (click on a photo to enlarge it)

Currituck Beach Lighthouse

The Currituck Beach Lighthouse first began shining its light to warn mariners of the North Carolina shoals way back in 1875.  The light is 158 feet tall anc can be seen up to 18 nautical miles out at sea.  Today it is completely automated, but still shining brightly.  (click on a picture to enlarge it)
