Chincoteague Wildlife

We got a chance to see the famous Chincoteaque ponies, but only from a distance. If you look hard you can see a couple of foals.

Springtime in Carolina

Springtime in North Carolina means it is "Dogwood" time!  And the dogwood tree in my parent's backyard, and the sunset silhouetting through it, is something worth seeing.

Eclipse (sort of)

This past Sunday there was a "hybrid" eclipse of the sun.  It's called a hybrid eclipse because depending upon your location, you could see anything from a partial eclipse to a full eclipse.  The east coast of the US saw just a partial eclipse, but if you were in equatorial Africa you got to see the full eclipse.

For me, it was a very, very partial eclipse.  The moon rose two minutes before the sun and that should have allowed the east coast to see up to 54% of the sun covered.  However, low hanging clouds on the horizon blocked my view of the eclipse until the very last moment.  These pictures were taken on the beach in Sandbridge.

Interesting how the reflection in my lens is reversed.
