Christmas in the Capital

Here are a few shots from our holiday weekend in DC. While waiting to check out the national Christmas tree with our friends the Hubbard's, we got to see President Bush fly into the White House from the Army-Navy game. Pretty cool.

We also saw the 38th Annual Scottish Christmas Walk in Alexandria. Lots of men in skirts and rousing bagpipe tunes.

Norfolk Panorama

I found some great free software to create panoramic images automatically. Here is a shot(s) I took from my office window of the city of Norfolk. The large parking lot taking up the bulk of the photo is on the top floor of Macarthur Center mall.

Mount Vernon by Candlelight

Margaret and I went up to Alexandria for a little Christmas getaway, which included a candlelight tour of Mount Vernon, home to George Washington. While the tour was at a little quicker pace than we would have preferred, and since it was a candlelight tour it was a bit difficult to see the details of the mansion, it was still very cool (and that is besides the fact that it was about 28 degrees at tour time). I highly recommend it to everyone!

Dusk comes to Mount Vernon

Margaret and I arrived at Mount Vernon just after the sun set, but in time to catch these shots of dusk.
