Halo before the Storm

A Halo around the sun or moon can be a precursor to stormy weather.  High cirrus clouds, usully above 20,000 feet, can preceed a storm.  The ice crystals in the clouds refract the light from, in this case the sun, and form the halo.  I saw this halo on Thursday, around lunchtime, a few hours before Tropical Storm Andrea arrived in the Outer Banks.
